Location Recce

1. Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place?   Trailing wires could be an issue in my shoot as I am shooting in a photography studio. I also have to ensure the room doesn’t get too busy as people could trip over the wires as well as the small risk of electrocution.
2. What will you do to ensure these risks are minimised?   Make sure everyone knows where the wires are when they enter the room and only allow a small number of people in the room and keep wires away from where the photographs are being taken. No liquids will be allowed in the room to avoid any risk with electrical items.
3. Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this?   The time of day and the weather will have no effect on the outcome of my photos as I am shooting indoors. One problem with timing is that I only have a short slot in the photography studio so my photos need to be taken quickly.
4. Have you considered the background to your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get the background you want? There are several backgrounds I can use so if the background I want isn't available I can remove the background and place my photos on another one.
5. Have you considered lighting? What about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects that might spoil the effect? In the studio there are 3 lights I can use to get the desired effect and to avoid getting a shadow from my model. Any reflective objects that are in the studio can be removed.
6. Do you need permission to take photos in the place/venue you have in mind? I have already got permission to use the photography studio.7. Do you need to book time in a room (eg the photography studio)? I have booked my time in the photography studio with members of staff to assist.
8. Are other people/crowds likely to be an issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect? No one can enter the photography studio while Im taking my photographs so crowds are not an issue.
9. Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B? I am relying on my media tutors assistance and my model to turn up for the time I have booked in the photography studio, I need to supply my own props which shouldn't be an issue as I have the bright make up and balloons. If my model wasn't able to turn up for some reason then I could easily find someone else to be in my shots.
